Who Is Barb Kaszuba

Hello and may I say thank you for taking the time to read about me! Full disclosure here: The photo you see here was taken by a proper photographer while I was on a cruise around the UK. I do not look like this all the time, or even 50% of the time! I know, hard to believe, isn't it? For my portrait sitting I applied my makeup very carefully, of course. While the photographer was taking photos she was asking me questions about why I wanted to have my photo taken, what did I want it to portray, etc. I was on the cruise because I had recently lost my husband to cancer, MS and various other health issues and was his primary care giver. I told her I wanted a photo in which I looked like I was remembering all of the fantastic things about him and our time together. I think she captured it perfectly. It is my favourite photo of myself and, when I got back home, I took to Photoshop to modify it and put John in the picture with me.

Once home again, I was faced with filling my time productively, so I went through a list of things I liked to do:

1 -housework - not so much
2 - cooking - not so much
3 - looking after grandchildren - love it but don't want it as a full time job
4 - having a puppy/dog - living on the 6th floor of a condo and needing to take walkies 4 times a day, no
5 - making people feel good about themselves - yes
6 - creating hand made cards - double-yes

As you can see, options were limited and I chose 5 & 6.

How did I get into stamping and Stampin' Up® you might ask? In 2005 we moved to Thunder Bay, Ontario for my husband's job. He was a professor at Confederation College in the Aviation department and was teaching Aircraft Maintenance Engineering. I did not know a soul in Thunder Bay and had heard about Stampin' Up previously so I went looking for a demonstrator. I signed up to attend one of her classes and before the class was over, BOOM, I was in love with card making. Thankfully, John was very supportive of my new found love and encouraged me to continue. He understood, "Happy Wife, Happy Life". As so I began the stamping phase of my life.

After John passed, I did lose my creative "mojo" for a while and sold all of my stamps and some accessories. I had the foresight to keep my tools though, and I'm grateful I did. My creative spirit slowly returned and now I have my own craft room full to the rafters with stamping goodies and I would love to share my joy and passion with YOU!

If you would like make your own cards, I will help you. If you are already a stamper and are looking for a buddy to stamp with, I am here for you. During the pandemic, I will gladly offer my classes online over Zoom. I am also going to give YouTube a shot and film some of my card making sessions where you will see how easy it is to create a beautiful card.
